Attending a ball at Netherfield Park and you don't have anything to wear? Never fear! This is a handmade Regency Era Ballgown made following the Black Snail Patterns #0119 Dress Pattern. They have the period listed as 1805-1810. This dress was made out of an old duvet cover so it is not fully period accurate. The embroidery is machine embroidered. I made this dress using the size 40 Europe/14 US size. Sewing pattern sizes are often different from ready to wear clothing sizes. I made this dress for myself and I usually wear a size 6 or 8 US. Measurements will be listed below so please use those for sizing.
This listing is only for the outer dress. This dress was made to fit over Regency stays (which flatten the chest). I recommend wearing this dress over Regency stays that fit you well though you can also use a compression sports bra. I also recommend wearing a chemise and petticoat under the dress to get the most historically accurate look. I also have a Regency Petticoat for rent that can be used with this dress!
Dresses during the Regency were made to change sizes easily to accommodate changes in the size of the wearer or fit multiple people. Since this dress is based on historical dresses, it can also be adjusted. I have listed the minimum and maximum measurements of the parts of the dress that can be changed.
If you have questions about measurements or the dress, I'm happy to help so just let me know!
